DeMatha English Medium School admits children of every caste, creed and community. Admission is offered on the basis of age, availability of seats in the class applied for, and completion of the documentation set out below. The school follows the CBSE curriculum from Pre-Primary through Class VIII, and the academic session runs from April to March.

A : Class-wise Eligibility
Age is the primary criterion for admission, calculated as on 31st March of the year of admission. Admission to classes above Pre-Primary is additionally subject to availability of seats and the child's readiness for the class applied for.

Under Section 12 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, the school admits children belonging to weaker sections and disadvantaged groups of the neighbourhood to the extent of 25% of the strength of the entry class, and provides free and compulsory elementary education to them until its completion. Families who believe they qualify should mention this at the time of enquiry.

Enquire & Visit the Campus
Call the admissions line or write to the school to ask about seat availability in the class you have in mind. We warmly encourage families to visit the campus at Tulsibari, meet the teachers and walk through the school before deciding. Seeing a place tells you far more than reading about it.

Fill In the Application
Complete the admission form online through the school portal, or collect a printed form from the office during working hours. Fill in the child's details, the class applied for, and parent or guardian contact information exactly as they appear on the supporting documents.

Submit the Documents
Bring the documents listed in Section B to the school office — originals for verification, along with one photocopy of each. The office will check that the date of birth, the class applied for and the previous school record are all consistent before the application moves forward.

Interaction with the School
For the entry classes this is an informal, friendly meeting so that the teachers can get to know your child. For admission into Class I and above, the school will advise you of any readiness assessment applicable to the class applied for. Please confirm the current requirement with the office when you apply.

Confirmation of the Seat
Once the application and documents are in order and a seat is available, the office will confirm the admission and tell you the fees payable for the session. The published fee structure is the whole of it — the school levies no capitation fee and no hidden charges under any head.

Pay the Fees & Join
Complete the fee payment at the office to confirm the seat. You will then be given the class allotment, the book and uniform list, and the reopening date. Classes for the 2026–2027 session began on 8th April for Classes I to VIII and 9th April for Nursery to UKG.

The school does not coerce any student or parent into purchasing books, stationery or uniforms from any particular shop. Fee details are disclosed to parents every year before the start of the session, without hidden charges under any head. Transport charges, where transport is availed, are separate and are confirmed by the school office.

Renewal admission for existing students runs class by class through the last week of March, immediately after the Annual Examination results.

Fresh admissions are accepted through the year wherever seats remain available in a class. Do not wait for March — contact the office at any time to ask about the class you need.
F : Questions Parents Often Ask
How is my child's age calculated for admission?
Age is reckoned as on 31st March of the year in which admission is sought, and is taken from the Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births. This is why the original certificate must be produced for verification — the date on it is the date the school records.
Is there an entrance examination?
Admission into the entry classes involves a friendly interaction rather than a formal test. For Class I and above, the school will tell you what applies to the particular class your child is joining. Please confirm the current requirement with the office at the time of applying, as it varies with the class and the time of year.
Are there any hidden charges beyond the published fee?
No. The school has formally undertaken to disclose the full fee to parents every year before the start of the session, without resorting to hidden charges under any head. The table in Section D is the complete annual fee. Transport, where a family chooses to use it, is arranged and charged separately by the office.
Can my child join partway through the academic year?
Yes, where a seat is available in the class concerned and the Transfer Certificate from the previous school is in order. Families relocating to the Rangia area during the year are welcome to enquire at any time. The earlier in the session a child joins, the easier the transition.
Does the school admit children of all communities?
Yes, without exception. DeMatha is a Catholic institution run by the Muktidhan Trust under the O.SS.T. Trinitarian Priests, and it is open to children of every caste, creed, tribe and community. The school is run as a community service and not as a business, and no part of its income is diverted to any individual.
What if we cannot afford the fees?
Speak to the school office directly and in confidence. Under the RTE Act the school reserves 25% of the entry class for children of weaker sections and disadvantaged groups from the neighbourhood, who receive free and compulsory elementary education. DeMatha was founded precisely so that cost and distance would not keep a child in this region out of a good school.
